ManyChat pricing in India (2026): real cost in rupees, and is it free?

By the Blupi team · Updated

Short answer: ManyChat has a free plan for up to 25 active contacts a month. Pro costs $39 a month, or $29 a month if you pay for a year, for up to 2,500 active contacts. At ₹88 to the dollar that's about ₹3,430 a month (or ₹2,550 a month paid yearly) before GST and card fees. The catch is the word "active contact": it includes everyone you chat with on Instagram that month, not just people your automations reach.

Prices here are from ManyChat's help centre and its own pricing explainer, cross-checked with 2026 pricing breakdowns, in October and November 2026. ManyChat changes prices and plan names often, and its pricing page shows the final amount at checkout, so confirm there before you pay. We make Blupi, a ManyChat alternative, and we've kept this page factual.

Pro, paid yearly$29 a month ($348 a year)about ₹30,600 a yearup to 2,500

Above 2,500 contacts the price goes up with your contacts. Third-party breakdowns report about $0.05 for each extra contact on monthly Pro. ManyChat AI and some other features are paid add-ons on top of Pro.

ManyChat doesn't publish a rupee price list. You pay in dollars, and your card converts it.

What is an "active contact"?

An active contact is anyone your connected Instagram account has a conversation with in a billing month. The part most people miss: it doesn't matter whether ManyChat's automation was involved.

  • Someone comments your keyword and gets the DM: 1 contact.
  • A friend messages you and you reply by hand: also 1 contact. A ManyChat moderator confirmed this on its community forum: "Yup, exactly that".
  • The same person talking to you all month: still 1 contact.
  • Deleting contacts doesn't give the slot back for that month.

Users have asked ManyChat, in its own ideas board, to "only count contacts who trigger a ManyChat automation". As of November 2026 the rule is unchanged.

Is ManyChat free?

Yes, for very small accounts. The free plan covers 25 active contacts a month, which is about one week of DMs for most creators. Once you pass the limit, users report their automations stop answering new people until the month resets or they upgrade. The free plan also adds a ManyChat notice when people open links you send.

If you post a reel with "comment GUIDE for the link" and 200 people comment, the free plan covers 25 of them.

Three real monthly bills, in rupees

All at ₹88 to the dollar. Your card may add a 1–3.5% foreign currency fee, and GST at 18% if it's charged on the bill.

1. A new creator, 15 conversations a month

Free plan. ₹0. ManyChat is genuinely free at this size.

2. A growing creator, one reel a week, about 800 people a month

Over the free limit, so Pro. $39 a month is about ₹3,430, roughly ₹4,050 with 18% GST, and a little more with the card fee. Paid yearly: $348, about ₹30,600, roughly ₹36,100 with GST.

3. A reel goes viral: 4,000 people comment in one month

Pro covers 2,500. If the reported $0.05 per extra contact applies, the other 1,500 cost about $75. That's a $114 month, about ₹10,000 before GST, for one good reel. This is why "you never know how much you will pay" is a common line in ManyChat reviews.

Why Indian cards get declined on ManyChat

Recurring payments from Indian cards fall under RBI's e-mandate rules: the bank has to register the subscription and may ask you to approve each charge. Many foreign subscriptions don't handle this well. ManyChat has a help article about payment problems for users in India, and its forum has threads like "six valid cards declined, Pro plan blocked".

If your card is declined:

  1. Turn on international and online transactions for the card in your bank's app.
  2. Try a credit card rather than a debit card. Credit cards handle e-mandates more reliably.
  3. Approve the e-mandate request from your bank (SMS or app) when it comes.
  4. Paying yearly means one charge instead of twelve, so fewer chances to fail.

How to keep the cost down

  • Use a separate account for personal chats. Since every conversation counts, chatting with friends from your business account costs contacts.
  • Pay yearly if you're sure you'll stay: $29 instead of $39 a month.
  • Watch the contacts counter before a big launch. A viral reel can push you into the next tier.
  • Use a tool that doesn't count contacts if Instagram comment-to-DM is all you need. Several alternatives charge a flat price or have no cap. See our ManyChat alternative guide and free plans compared.
